Assessing the benefits of flexible technologies in the current European context

This presentation delves into the XFLEX HYDRO project's comprehensive review of the costs, benefits, and opportunities associated with implementing flexibility technologies in existing hydropower plants. It showcases the study results, including an analysis of the evolution of ancillary services markets. Additionally, the presentation explores barriers limiting widespread technology deployment and offers a set of policy recommendations to address these challenges. Finally, a set of commercially exploitable results of the project have been identified and assessed.
